MUG's files are of two types, those which are and those which are not specific to a given player. Message files apply to all players, as do Locations, Room Contents, and some entries in Object and Mobile files. You will need to load a specific player before you can edit Object or Mobile files. A location's Preposition refers to the preposition used in response to a Where command, when an object or mobile is in that location. E.g. IN the East Yard, or ON the Road. You may use IN, AT, or ON. A location's Site determines whetherit is susceptible to weather. NB nosummoning is possible Underground. A room's contents are those objects of a non-portable nature which are visible in that location. Some of these are highly significant in the original MUG, so edit them with care! Use Search to check which locations contain an item of that number, so that you may edit the room's description accordingly. An object's Search name is that abbreviated name which the parser searches for when a MUG command line is entered. Site: use the numbers 1-499 for straightforward MUG locations, 500 to refer to the player, 501- 599 to put the object in another, and 5001-5050 for Mobiles. A mobile's Search name is that abbreviated name which the parser searches for when a MUG command line is entered. Fight value: this is the amount of points a player earns by killing this mobile, within the range 1000- 40000. Changing MUG's messages can lead to unusual effects - proceed with care!To save disk-space, these messages are compressed. You will find that if you use too many upper-case letters, the packer will complain. Use of lower-case letters, notably vowels and t, d, s, r, h, and l, is recommended. Copy: certain attributes of Objectsand Mobiles, e.g. site, are specificto individual players. To repeat changes made to a player's Objects or Mobiles, use Copy to copy one player to another. Fiddle: use this to tamper with a player's score, or to get a player an object that is tricky to find.
